Maquette

Cut it. Pin it. Run a thread.

Maquette is an interface language made of cut-paper planes in a lit shadow-box. Depth comes from how far a plane floats, never from a line drawn around it.

How far each plane floats

The cardstock set

Cream#FBF2DD
Rust#B8431F
Aqua#8FE3DA
Teal#0B4F5C
Ink#1B0F0A

Rust is the table. Teal and aqua are the cool notes against it, used like highlighters. Ink is for type, never ground.

Lantern Harbour

Three lanterns hang at three depths over a stone wall.

The Counting Orchard

Twelve round trees recede into the box.

No outline. Lift it instead.

If a thing should read as a box, it floats higher. If it should read as part of the page, it sits flat.

Three rules for the table

  1. Light comes from the upper left.
  2. Every plane casts a shadow, never a line.
  3. Teal is for the one thing to press.

Start with one piece.
