rules
Compose screens as a minimal app shell around one dominant context board: left rail, top reading band, main evidence panel, and a quieter right note column with generous unoccupied margins.
Medium-low density with high information clarity: leave at least one open corridor per viewport and keep modules shallow, aligned, and skimmable.
Use size, alignment, whitespace, and rule weight before color. The strongest item receives a vertical seam and more breathing room; secondary items compress into ledger rows.
layout
mobile 0-639px, tablet 640-1023px, desktop 1024px and up, wide 1360px and up
Desktop uses a centered 12-column board inside 72px shell rail and 64px outer ma gutters; tablet collapses to 8 columns, mobile to a single reading stack.
Whitespace is an active affordance: blank corridors, empty ledger cells, and quiet margins are retained to slow scanning and clarify importance.
guidance
- Reserve accent color for one active priority, selected context, or destructive state at a time.
- Use hairline dividers, blank columns, and typographic contrast to create structure before adding surfaces.
- Write realistic labels and evidence notes so dashboard panels feel like decisions in progress.
- Do not fill every panel with charts, gradients, colored pills, or generic KPI cards.
- Do not mix arbitrary pill radii with rounded cards; use the committed square-to-2px geometry except badges.
- Do not let semantic red, green, blue, and amber badges become the visual identity.

# Ma Context Quiet Intelligence ## Philosophy Ma Context Quiet Intelligence turns enterprise dashboards into calm reading rooms: information is held in generous pauses, narrow dividers, and ordered context panels so teams can understand priority without feeling pushed by analytics theater. ### Values - meaningful emptiness - readable structure before decoration - low-contrast confidence - reserved priority signals - deference to content ### Anti-Values - decorative dashboard density - status color as identity - floating glossy cards - gratuitous chart noise ### Visual Character - A 72px desktop app rail and wide outer gutters frame a centered 12-column workspace, leaving deliberate blank corridors around the primary reading panel. - Panels use flat warm off-white surfaces with 1px ash dividers and no colored card fills, so hierarchy is created by spacing, alignment, and inset rules. - A subdued vertical priority seam appears only on the active context panel and urgent rows, using one muted persimmon accent instead of broad status coloring. - Typography pairs a quiet Japanese-informed sans for labels with a humanist text face for dense notes, using expanded small caps and relaxed line-height for scannability. - Dashboard metrics sit in narrow ledger bands and annotation cells rather than chart-heavy tiles, making data feel like curated evidence instead of surveillance. ## Tokens ### Borders - **Accent Width**: 3px - **Character**: low-contrast ash rules, with accent seams reserved for current priority or blocked state only - **Default Width**: 1px - **Style**: solid ### Colors | Name | Value | |------|-------| | accent | `#B86E4B` | | background | `#F4F1EA` | | border | `#DAD5C9` | | error | `#9B4B42` | | info | `#5F7485` | | muted | `#7D827A` | | primary | `#2F3A37` | | secondary | `#6B716C` | | success | `#667A58` | | surface | `#FBFAF6` | | text | `#242824` | | warning | `#B58A43` | ### Motion - **Duration**: 160ms - **Easing**: cubic-bezier(.2,.7,.2,1) - **Philosophy**: short, quiet reveals and focus changes; no bounce, spin, parallax, or decorative animation ### Radii - **Full**: 9999px - **Lg**: 6px - **Md**: 4px - **None**: 0 - **Sm**: 2px ### Shadows - **Lg**: 0 18px 52px rgba(36,40,36,0.08) - **Md**: 0 8px 24px rgba(36,40,36,0.06) - **Sm**: 0 1px 0 rgba(36,40,36,0.04) ### Spacing - **Base**: 8px - **Scale**: [4,8,12,16,24,32,48,64,96] ### Surfaces - **Bg Pattern**: barely visible 24px column rhythm made from translucent ash hairlines - **Card Style**: flat panels with 1px inner dividers, square-to-2px corners, and no glow - **Treatment**: matte warm paper surfaces on a quiet rice-paper background ### Typography - **Base Size**: 16px - **Body Font**: Source Serif 4 - **Google Fonts Url**: https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Noto+Sans+JP:wght@400;500;600;700&family=Source+Serif+4:opsz,wght@8..60,400;8..60,500;8..60,600&family=IBM+Plex+Mono:wght@400;500;600&display=swap - **Heading Font**: Noto Sans JP - **Letter Spacing**: -0.01em - **Line Height**: 1.58 - **Mono Font**: IBM Plex Mono - **Scale Ratio**: 1.2 ## Rules ### Composition Compose screens as a minimal app shell around one dominant context board: left rail, top reading band, main evidence panel, and a quieter right note column with generous unoccupied margins. ### Density Medium-low density with high information clarity: leave at least one open corridor per viewport and keep modules shallow, aligned, and skimmable. ### Hierarchy Use size, alignment, whitespace, and rule weight before color. # Ma Context Quiet Intelligence
## Overview
Ma Context Quiet Intelligence turns enterprise dashboards into calm reading rooms: information is held in generous pauses, narrow dividers, and ordered context panels so teams can understand priority without feeling pushed by analytics theater.
### Values
- meaningful emptiness
- readable structure before decoration
- low-contrast confidence
- reserved priority signals
- deference to content
### Anti-Values
- decorative dashboard density
- status color as identity
- floating glossy cards
- gratuitous chart noise
### Visual Character
- A 72px desktop app rail and wide outer gutters frame a centered 12-column workspace, leaving deliberate blank corridors around the primary reading panel.

## Components
### Composition
Compose screens as a minimal app shell around one dominant context board: left rail, top reading band, main evidence panel, and a quieter right note column with generous unoccupied margins.
### Density
Medium-low density with high information clarity: leave at least one open corridor per viewport and keep modules shallow, aligned, and skimmable.
### Hierarchy
Use size, alignment, whitespace, and rule weight before color. The strongest item receives a vertical seam and more breathing room; secondary items compress into ledger rows.
### Signature Patterns
- Ma gutters: wide blank margins and empty cells are preserved as layout units, not leftover space, separating reading zones without extra containers.
- Priority seam: a 3px muted persimmon vertical rule marks the single current focus or urgent row while all other state indicators remain monochrome labels.
- Context ledger bands: metrics are presented as thin horizontal rows with mono values, source notes, and hairline separators instead of colorful chart blocks.
- Pause annotations: right-column notes use offset serif text blocks with tiny bracket ticks, creating places to breathe and interpret before acting.
- Ash-grid panel grammar: flat paper panels share aligned 1px dividers and square corners so every dashboard element belongs to one calm structural rhythm.
## shadcn/ui Usage
When the target app uses shadcn/ui, copy DESIGN.md with shadcn instead of the plain DESIGN.md. It contains the same Katagami design-language source plus the shadcn/ui primitives, imports, theme variables, component recipes, and preview-shot guidance.
DESIGN.md with shadcn: `/language/en-019ed833-18e3-7b10-ba84-7a1feb96a9bc/DESIGN.with-shadcn.md`.
The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.
Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.
Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.
## Do's and Don'ts
- Do Reserve accent color for one active priority, selected context, or destructive state at a time.
- Do Use hairline dividers, blank columns, and typographic contrast to create structure before adding surfaces.
- Do Write realistic labels and evidence notes so dashboard panels feel like decisions in progress.
- Don't Do not fill every panel with charts, gradients, colored pills, or generic KPI cards.
- Don't Do not mix arbitrary pill radii with rounded cards; use the committed square-to-2px geometry except badges.
- Don't Do not let semantic red, green, blue, and amber badges become the visual identity.

## Intent
Ma Context Quiet Intelligence turns enterprise dashboards into calm reading rooms: information is held in generous pauses, narrow dividers, and ordered context panels so teams can understand priority without feeling pushed by analytics theater.
## Required primitives
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Install with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

## Visual character to preserve
- A 72px desktop app rail and wide outer gutters frame a centered 12-column workspace, leaving deliberate blank corridors around the primary reading panel.

## Signature component recipes
### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.
### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.
### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.
### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.
### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.
## Preview shots
- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.
## Implementation contract
- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/ma-context-quiet-intelligence/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Reserve accent color for one active priority, selected context, or destructive state at a time.; Use hairline dividers, blank columns, and typographic contrast to create structure before adding surfaces.; Write realistic labels and evidence notes so dashboard panels feel like decisions in progress.
- Do not: Do not fill every panel with charts, gradients, colored pills, or generic KPI cards.; Do not mix arbitrary pill radii with rounded cards; use the committed square-to-2px geometry except badges.; Do not let semantic red, green, blue, and amber badges become the visual identity.
## Copy-paste component example
This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
