rules
Compose screens as woven work surfaces: a persistent left rail, a compact header, and dense modules aligned to a shared 32px thread grid. Avoid hero areas; give priority to cross-referenced text, tables, annotations, and operational controls.
High information density is expected: modules may contain many rows and contextual notes, but row heights, line-height, and gutters must keep scanning calm across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Hierarchy comes from type scale, rule weight, indentation, and sparse accent stitches. Primary actions are indigo text-buttons or quiet filled controls; destructive or warning states remain small and localized.
layout
Mobile 375px single-column with preserved row threading; tablet 768px two-column with collapsible left rail; desktop 1200px+ full 12-column workspace.
Desktop uses a 12-column grid over a 32px woven thread underlay; modules span 3, 4, 5, 7, or 9 columns and align inner rows to 8px increments.
Whitespace is narrow but intentional: small gutters hold rule continuations and label rails, while larger empty pauses appear only around decisive editorial summaries.
guidance
- Use light surfaces, hairline borders, compact typography, and aligned rule systems to make dense information feel woven together.
- Reserve accent colors for status, selected records, focus rings, data emphasis, and small charts; default modules should stay ivory or mist.
- Write realistic product content with decisions, owners, timestamps, notes, table rows, and dependencies so the language proves text-heavy work.
- Keep controls rectangular, quiet, and close to the grid; focus states should be visible indigo outlines or stitch bars.
- Do not use large saturated cards, gradient dashboards, glassmorphism, chunky shadows, or generic KPI walls.
- Do not imitate Japanese craft with decorative icons, fabric photos, or ornamental motifs; express weaving through layout and rules.
- Do not let density collapse into clutter: every row needs alignment, type rhythm, and clear interactive affordance.
- Do not invent separate component aesthetics for shadcn; translate the same hairlines, stitches, radii, and grid underlay.

# Aya Woven Ledger ## Philosophy Aya Woven Ledger is a calm, text-heavy product language for teams who need many contextual threads visible at once without the theatrical density of a dashboard. It translates Japanese weaving structure into quiet interface rhythm: pale surfaces, hairline warp-and-weft rules, compact editorial typography, and sparse accents reserved for state, selection, and data emphasis. ### Values - Context is woven rather than stacked: notes, rows, filters, and annotations share aligned threads so users can trace relationships across a dense workspace. - Restraint creates trust: most modules stay low contrast, with status and selection signaled through small color stitches rather than large colored panels. - Editorial density is humane: tight tables and text blocks use generous line rhythm, hanging labels, and measured gutters so scanning stays calm. - Japanese minimalism is expressed structurally through emptiness, asymmetry, and material quietness rather than decorative motifs. ### Anti-Values - No glossy SaaS cards, saturated dashboard tiles, oversized KPI theatrics, or rainbow status systems. - No faux textile imagery, ornamental patterns, or literal Japanese decoration that does not serve information structure. - No default component inventory layouts; screens must feel like a real operating surface for text, records, and decisions. ### Visual Character - Use a 12-column CSS grid with 1px repeating-linear-gradient hairlines every 32px to create a barely visible woven warp beneath dense modules. - Build modules as flat ivory and mist surfaces separated by #D8D3C8 hairline borders, square-to-small radii, and almost no shadow so hierarchy comes from alignment. - Set headings in Shippori Mincho B1 and body text in Noto Sans JP with compact 13-16px sizing, tabular numerals, and generous 1.58 line-height for readable density. - Render selection and status as narrow left-edge stitches, top rule segments, tiny badges, and inline dots using indigo, persimmon, moss, and blue accents only. - Interlace side notes, table rows, and detail panels with horizontal continuation rules so related facts appear threaded across separate modules. ## Tokens ### Borders - **Accent Width**: 3px - **Character**: quiet loom threads: pale grid lines for structure and narrow colored stitches for state - **Default Width**: 1px - **Style**: solid hairline with occasional double-rule separators ### Colors | Name | Value | |------|-------| | accent | `#B45A3C` | | background | `#F7F5EF` | | border | `#D8D3C8` | | error | `#A6423C` | | info | `#496F8E` | | muted | `#6F6A60` | | primary | `#2F4A60` | | secondary | `#7C756A` | | success | `#58745B` | | surface | `#FFFEFA` | | text | `#27231E` | | warning | `#B88A37` | ### Motion - **Duration**: 140ms - **Easing**: cubic-bezier(0.2, 0, 0.2, 1) - **Philosophy**: near-still motion: opacity and 1px translate transitions only, preserving the feeling of a stable reading surface ### Radii - **Full**: 9999px - **Lg**: 8px - **Md**: 4px - **None**: 0 - **Sm**: 2px ### Shadows - **Lg**: 0 16px 48px rgba(47, 40, 30, 0.07) - **Md**: 0 8px 24px rgba(47, 40, 30, 0.055) - **Sm**: 0 1px 0 rgba(47, 40, 30, 0.04) ### Spacing - **Base**: 8px - **Scale**: [4,8,12,16,20,24,32,40,56,72] ### Surfaces - **Bg Pattern**: repeating-linear-gradient warp/weft hairlines at 32px intervals over warm off-white - **Card Style**: flat rectangular panels with hairline borders, 2-4px radius, inset label rails, and no decorative fill - **Treatment**: low-contrast ivory, rice-paper, and mist panels with transparent woven grid underlay ### Typography - **Base Size**: 16px - **Body Font**: Noto Sans JP - **Google Fonts Url**: https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=IBM+Plex+Mono:wght@400;500&family=Noto+Sans+JP:wght@400;500;600&family=Shippori+Mincho+B1:wght@500;600&display=swap - **Heading Font**: Shippori Mincho B1 - **Letter Spacing**: -0.01em - **Line Height**: 1.58 - **Mono Font**: IBM Plex Mono - **Scale Ratio**: 1.18 ## Rules ### Composition Compose screens as woven work surfaces: a persistent left rail, a compact header, and dense modules aligned to a shared 32px thread grid. # Aya Woven Ledger
## Overview
Aya Woven Ledger is a calm, text-heavy product language for teams who need many contextual threads visible at once without the theatrical density of a dashboard. It translates Japanese weaving structure into quiet interface rhythm: pale surfaces, hairline warp-and-weft rules, compact editorial typography, and sparse accents reserved for state, selection, and data emphasis.
### Values
- Context is woven rather than stacked: notes, rows, filters, and annotations share aligned threads so users can trace relationships across a dense workspace.
### Anti-Values
- No glossy SaaS cards, saturated dashboard tiles, oversized KPI theatrics, or rainbow status systems.
- No faux textile imagery, ornamental patterns, or literal Japanese decoration that does not serve information structure.
- No default component inventory layouts; screens must feel like a real operating surface for text, records, and decisions.
### Visual Character
- Use a 12-column CSS grid with 1px repeating-linear-gradient hairlines every 32px to create a barely visible woven warp beneath dense modules.

## Components
### Composition
Compose screens as woven work surfaces: a persistent left rail, a compact header, and dense modules aligned to a shared 32px thread grid. Avoid hero areas; give priority to cross-referenced text, tables, annotations, and operational controls.
### Density
High information density is expected: modules may contain many rows and contextual notes, but row heights, line-height, and gutters must keep scanning calm across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
### Hierarchy
Hierarchy comes from type scale, rule weight, indentation, and sparse accent stitches. Primary actions are indigo text-buttons or quiet filled controls; destructive or warning states remain small and localized.
### Signature Patterns
- Woven grid underlay: use two repeating-linear-gradients with 32px spacing and very low opacity to align panels, table rows, and editorial notes.
- Threaded row continuation: extend 1px horizontal rules across adjacent cards and side notes so selected records visually connect to their context.
- Accent stitch state system: represent status, selection, warnings, and data emphasis with 3px edge bars, tiny inline dots, and short top-rule segments instead of full colored surfaces.
- Hanging metadata labels: place small mono labels in narrow rails or above rules, aligned to the grid, so dense product copy reads like annotated editorial material.
- Quiet double separators: use paired hairlines and extra micro-gaps to separate major sections without adding shadows or high-contrast blocks.
## shadcn/ui Usage
When the target app uses shadcn/ui, copy DESIGN.md with shadcn instead of the plain DESIGN.md. It contains the same Katagami design-language source plus the shadcn/ui primitives, imports, theme variables, component recipes, and preview-shot guidance.
DESIGN.md with shadcn: `/language/en-019ed836-b28c-7741-aa4d-b990f79071e5/DESIGN.with-shadcn.md`.
The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.
Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.
Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.
## Do's and Don'ts
- Do Use light surfaces, hairline borders, compact typography, and aligned rule systems to make dense information feel woven together.
- Do Reserve accent colors for status, selected records, focus rings, data emphasis, and small charts; default modules should stay ivory or mist.
- Do Write realistic product content with decisions, owners, timestamps, notes, table rows, and dependencies so the language proves text-heavy work.
- Do Keep controls rectangular, quiet, and close to the grid; focus states should be visible indigo outlines or stitch bars.
- Don't Do not use large saturated cards, gradient dashboards, glassmorphism, chunky shadows, or generic KPI walls.
- Don't Do not imitate Japanese craft with decorative icons, fabric photos, or ornamental motifs; express weaving through layout and rules.
- Don't Do not let density collapse into clutter: every row needs alignment, type rhythm, and clear interactive affordance.
- Don't Do not invent separate component aesthetics for shadcn; translate the same hairlines, stitches, radii, and grid underlay.

# Aya Woven Ledger shadcn/ui Components
Artifact: `component-recipes-v1`
Author: `katagami-ui-projection`
Language ID: `en-019ed836-b28c-7741-aa4d-b990f79071e5`
Slug: `aya-woven-ledger-v2`
## Intent
Aya Woven Ledger is a calm, text-heavy product language for teams who need many contextual threads visible at once without the theatrical density of a dashboard. It translates Japanese weaving structure into quiet interface rhythm: pale surfaces, hairline warp-and-weft rules, compact editorial typography, and sparse accents reserved for state, selection, and data emphasis.
## Required primitives
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Install with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

## Visual character to preserve
- Use a 12-column CSS grid with 1px repeating-linear-gradient hairlines every 32px to create a barely visible woven warp beneath dense modules.

## Signature component recipes
### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.
### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.
### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.
### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.
### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.
## Preview shots
- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.
## Implementation contract
- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/aya-woven-ledger-v2/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Use light surfaces, hairline borders, compact typography, and aligned rule systems to make dense information feel woven together.; Reserve accent colors for status, selected records, focus rings, data emphasis, and small charts; default modules should stay ivory or mist.; Write realistic product content with decisions, owners, timestamps, notes, table rows, and dependencies so the language proves text-heavy work.; Keep controls rectangular, quiet, and close to the grid; focus states should be visible indigo outlines or stitch bars.
- Do not: Do not use large saturated cards, gradient dashboards, glassmorphism, chunky shadows, or generic KPI walls.; Do not imitate Japanese craft with decorative icons, fabric photos, or ornamental motifs; express weaving through layout and rules.; Do not let density collapse into clutter: every row needs alignment, type rhythm, and clear interactive affordance.; Do not invent separate component aesthetics for shadcn; translate the same hairlines, stitches, radii, and grid underlay.
## Copy-paste component example
This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
