rules
Build scenes as layered workbenches: a full-height navigation rail, a translucent command header, a dense evidence grid, and one raised detail panel floating above the same neutral material field.
Balanced enterprise density: 12-16px interior spacing for controls, compact metadata rows, and larger 24-32px gutters between layered panels.
Hierarchy comes from opacity, border contrast, typography weight, and controlled elevation; color accents are limited to status, focus, and one primary action per region.
layout
mobile 375px, tablet 768px, desktop 1200px and above
Twelve-column desktop grid with a fixed 248px rail and 360px detail panel; tablet collapses into two columns; mobile stacks the command bar, cards, and detail sheet.
Whitespace is measured and shallow inside components, with wider gutters between translucent layers to keep borders readable.
guidance
- Keep text on translucent surfaces at WCAG AA contrast using opaque fallback fills.
- Use hairline borders on cards, fields, tables, popovers, and focusable controls.
- Let micro-lines and paper grain remain nearly imperceptible, visible only as material warmth.
- Use one soft shadow pair for raised panels and no shadow for flat table rows.
- Do not use frosted-glass blur without explicit borders and solid fallback color.
- Do not add torn-paper edges, fabric illustrations, or craft icons as decoration.
- Do not rely on shadow alone to separate controls or component boundaries.
- Do not make inactive text or borders too pale for non-text contrast.

# AYA Veil Matter ## Philosophy AYA Veil Matter is a product-grade neutral language for interfaces that need calm depth without decoration: translucent panels, washi-warm surface tint, woven micro-lines, and strict accessible component boundaries. ### Values - accessible non-text contrast before ambience - material memory expressed through structure - quiet enterprise restraint - layered hierarchy without skeuomorphic props ### Anti-Values - heavy glassmorphism that reduces legibility - paper-craft illustration as decoration - low-contrast hairlines on interactive controls - generic white SaaS cards with arbitrary shadows ### Visual Character - Use stacked translucent panels with backdrop-filter blur, opaque fallback background colors, and explicit 1px borders on every interactive surface. - Apply a restrained woven-thread field through two repeating-linear-gradient layers at 90 and 0 degrees with alpha below six percent. - Reserve soft shadows for active elevation: short ambient shadow plus a longer warm umbra, never more than two layers per surface. - Cut panel edges with small bevel-like inset highlights using pseudo-elements rather than ornamental paper tears or skeuomorphic fibers. - Render focus states as high-contrast ink outlines plus a pale exterior halo so keyboard navigation remains visible over translucent surfaces. ## Tokens ### Borders - **Accent Width**: 2px - **Character**: Muted stone borders define all component boundaries; # AYA Veil Matter
## Overview
AYA Veil Matter is a product-grade neutral language for interfaces that need calm depth without decoration: translucent panels, washi-warm surface tint, woven micro-lines, and strict accessible component boundaries.
### Values
- accessible non-text contrast before ambience
- material memory expressed through structure
- quiet enterprise restraint
- layered hierarchy without skeuomorphic props
### Anti-Values
- heavy glassmorphism that reduces legibility
- paper-craft illustration as decoration
- low-contrast hairlines on interactive controls
- generic white SaaS cards with arbitrary shadows
### Visual Character
- Use stacked translucent panels with backdrop-filter blur, opaque fallback background colors, and explicit 1px borders on every interactive surface.

## Components
### Composition
Build scenes as layered workbenches: a full-height navigation rail, a translucent command header, a dense evidence grid, and one raised detail panel floating above the same neutral material field.
### Density
Balanced enterprise density: 12-16px interior spacing for controls, compact metadata rows, and larger 24-32px gutters between layered panels.
### Hierarchy
Hierarchy comes from opacity, border contrast, typography weight, and controlled elevation; color accents are limited to status, focus, and one primary action per region.
### Signature Patterns
- Threadline panels combine high-opacity surface color with crossed 1px repeating gradients clipped inside the border radius.
- Stencil-edge headers use inset top and left highlights with a darker bottom hairline to imply a cut sheet resting on another layer.
- Accessible glass controls use translucent fills but maintain explicit border contrast and a visible focus outline outside the component.
- Status chips use tiny vertical accent rules and mono numerals instead of saturated badge fills, preserving the quiet neutral field.
## shadcn/ui Usage
When the target app uses shadcn/ui, copy DESIGN.md with shadcn instead of the plain DESIGN.md. It contains the same Katagami design-language source plus the shadcn/ui primitives, imports, theme variables, component recipes, and preview-shot guidance.
DESIGN.md with shadcn: `/language/en-019edc16-8cac-7540-87e1-293620b766af/DESIGN.with-shadcn.md`.
The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.
Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.
Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.
## Do's and Don'ts
- Do Keep text on translucent surfaces at WCAG AA contrast using opaque fallback fills.
- Do Use hairline borders on cards, fields, tables, popovers, and focusable controls.
- Do Let micro-lines and paper grain remain nearly imperceptible, visible only as material warmth.
- Do Use one soft shadow pair for raised panels and no shadow for flat table rows.
- Don't Do not use frosted-glass blur without explicit borders and solid fallback color.
- Don't Do not add torn-paper edges, fabric illustrations, or craft icons as decoration.
- Don't Do not rely on shadow alone to separate controls or component boundaries.
- Don't Do not make inactive text or borders too pale for non-text contrast.

# AYA Veil Matter shadcn/ui Components
Artifact: `component-recipes-v1`
Author: `katagami-ui-projection`
Language ID: `en-019edc16-8cac-7540-87e1-293620b766af`
Slug: `aya-veil-matter`
## Intent
AYA Veil Matter is a product-grade neutral language for interfaces that need calm depth without decoration: translucent panels, washi-warm surface tint, woven micro-lines, and strict accessible component boundaries.
## Required primitives
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Install with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

## Visual character to preserve
- Use stacked translucent panels with backdrop-filter blur, opaque fallback background colors, and explicit 1px borders on every interactive surface.
## ShadSync visual profile

## Signature component recipes
### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.
### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.
### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.
### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.
### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.
## Preview shots
- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.
## Implementation contract
- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/aya-veil-matter/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Keep text on translucent surfaces at WCAG AA contrast using opaque fallback fills.; Use hairline borders on cards, fields, tables, popovers, and focusable controls.; Let micro-lines and paper grain remain nearly imperceptible, visible only as material warmth.; Use one soft shadow pair for raised panels and no shadow for flat table rows.
- Do not: Do not use frosted-glass blur without explicit borders and solid fallback color.; Do not add torn-paper edges, fabric illustrations, or craft icons as decoration.; Do not rely on shadow alone to separate controls or component boundaries.; Do not make inactive text or borders too pale for non-text contrast.
## Copy-paste component example
This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
