rules
Use one dominant archival workbench: a narrow context rail, a central evidence sheet, and a right decision rail connected by indigo thread lines rather than by colored panels.
Moderate editorial density: metadata can be compact, but every decision cluster needs breathing room and clear ruled grouping.
Hierarchy comes from reading measure, typographic voice shifts, proximity, hairline dividers, and selected indigo edges; color fills remain rare and ceremonial.
layout
mobile 375px, tablet 768px, desktop 1200px and up
Desktop uses a 248px left archive rail, fluid 720px reading/work sheet, and 320px decision rail; tablet stacks the decision rail below the sheet.
Whitespace is a functional pause: 32-48px between regions, 12-16px inside related metadata clusters, and thin dividers between unrelated groups.
guidance
- Use indigo only for active state, focus, current navigation, and one evidence highlight.
- Keep cards paper-colored with hairline borders and compact corner tabs.
- Use specific archival content with provenance states, specimen IDs, and decision workflows.
- Let typography and proximity create most hierarchy before adding color.
- Do not create saturated blue dashboard cards or rainbow status legends.
- Do not use gold as luxury gloss, primary CTA, or large filled badge.
- Do not make a generic CRM/project dashboard or component inventory wall.
- Do not mix arbitrary radius scales; preserve the small squared paper geometry.

# AYA Ink Thread
## Overview
AYA Ink Thread is a restrained product language for provenance-heavy cultural archives: warm washi fields, sumi typographic hierarchy, and a single indigo connective line organize decisions without dashboard chroma.
### Values
- paper-first calm
- evidence over decoration
- threaded context
- quiet editorial precision
### Anti-Values
- saturated dashboard tiles
- gradient luxury gloss
- generic SaaS card walls
- color used as hierarchy substitute
### Visual Character
- Full screens sit on a warm paper canvas with faint repeating katagami cutout dots created by layered radial gradients at very low opacity.
- Primary navigation, active rows, focused fields, and selected evidence blocks use a 2px vertical or underline indigo thread instead of filled blue surfaces.
- Cards and tables are almost flat rice-paper sheets with hairline mist borders, tiny square corner tabs, and no multicolor backgrounds.
- Ceremonial milestones use a short gold-thread rule or pin mark smaller than text height, never a filled badge or CTA surface.
- Editorial hierarchy pairs compact sans UI with Mincho-style specimen titles, generous leading, tabular numerals, and close-proximity metadata clusters.
## Colors
Use the YAML color tokens as the normative palette. The prose below names the roles agents should preserve when generating UI.

| secondary | `#3A3A37` |
| success | `#3F6B4A` |
| surface | `#FBF9F3` |
| text | `#171717` |
| warning | `#9A6A20` |

## Components
### Composition
Use one dominant archival workbench: a narrow context rail, a central evidence sheet, and a right decision rail connected by indigo thread lines rather than by colored panels.
### Density
Moderate editorial density: metadata can be compact, but every decision cluster needs breathing room and clear ruled grouping.
### Hierarchy
Hierarchy comes from reading measure, typographic voice shifts, proximity, hairline dividers, and selected indigo edges; color fills remain rare and ceremonial.
### Signature Patterns
- Thread-state accents appear as 2px indigo left borders on active records, underlines on active tabs, and focus rings offset by 2px around inputs.
- Katagami underlay uses sparse low-contrast radial-gradient cutouts behind large paper regions while controls remain clean and readable above it.
- Gold provenance ticks are implemented as short 24px horizontal rules next to verified events, never as large badges or decorative gradients.
- Corner tabs are small absolute-positioned paper squares on sheets and dialogs, making flat surfaces feel physically indexed without heavy shadows.
## shadcn/ui Usage
When the target app uses shadcn/ui, copy DESIGN.md with shadcn instead of the plain DESIGN.md. It contains the same Katagami design-language source plus the shadcn/ui primitives, imports, theme variables, component recipes, and preview-shot guidance.
DESIGN.md with shadcn: `/language/en-019ee03a-29b5-72b2-8df0-968819e9427a/DESIGN.with-shadcn.md`.
The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.
Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.
Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.
## Do's and Don'ts
- Do Use indigo only for active state, focus, current navigation, and one evidence highlight.
- Do Keep cards paper-colored with hairline borders and compact corner tabs.
- Do Use specific archival content with provenance states, specimen IDs, and decision workflows.
- Do Let typography and proximity create most hierarchy before adding color.
- Don't Do not create saturated blue dashboard cards or rainbow status legends.
- Don't Do not use gold as luxury gloss, primary CTA, or large filled badge.
- Don't Do not make a generic CRM/project dashboard or component inventory wall.
- Don't Do not mix arbitrary radius scales; preserve the small squared paper geometry.

# AYA Ink Thread shadcn/ui Components
Artifact: `component-recipes-v1`
Author: `katagami-ui-projection`
Language ID: `en-019ee03a-29b5-72b2-8df0-968819e9427a`
Slug: `aya-ink-thread`
## Intent
AYA Ink Thread is a restrained product language for provenance-heavy cultural archives: warm washi fields, sumi typographic hierarchy, and a single indigo connective line organize decisions without dashboard chroma.
## Required primitives
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Install with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

## Visual character to preserve
- Full screens sit on a warm paper canvas with faint repeating katagami cutout dots created by layered radial gradients at very low opacity.
- Primary navigation, active rows, focused fields, and selected evidence blocks use a 2px vertical or underline indigo thread instead of filled blue surfaces.
- Cards and tables are almost flat rice-paper sheets with hairline mist borders, tiny square corner tabs, and no multicolor backgrounds.
- Ceremonial milestones use a short gold-thread rule or pin mark smaller than text height, never a filled badge or CTA surface.
- Editorial hierarchy pairs compact sans UI with Mincho-style specimen titles, generous leading, tabular numerals, and close-proximity metadata clusters.

## Signature component recipes
### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.
### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.
### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.
### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.
### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.
## Preview shots
- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.
## Implementation contract
- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/aya-ink-thread/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Use indigo only for active state, focus, current navigation, and one evidence highlight.; Keep cards paper-colored with hairline borders and compact corner tabs.; Use specific archival content with provenance states, specimen IDs, and decision workflows.; Let typography and proximity create most hierarchy before adding color.
- Do not: Do not create saturated blue dashboard cards or rainbow status legends.; Do not use gold as luxury gloss, primary CTA, or large filled badge.; Do not make a generic CRM/project dashboard or component inventory wall.; Do not mix arbitrary radius scales; preserve the small squared paper geometry.
## Copy-paste component example
This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
```tsx
import { Badge } from "@/components/ui/badge";
import { Button } from "@/components/ui/button";
CardDescription,
CardFooter,
CardTitle,
} from "@/components/ui/card";
import { Input } from "@/components/ui/input";
import { Tabs, TabsList, TabsTrigger } from "@/components/ui/tabs";
export function AyaInkThreadShadcnKit() {
